Essential oils have a long history of therapeutic uses in cultures around the world with a variety of applications. One of the many uses for these plant essences is their ability to help people with a wide array of skin issues such as:

  • Aging skin
  • Acne
  • Psoriasis
  • Eczema
  • Rosacea
  • As well as many others…

At Ananda, we are passionate about researching the therapeutic benefits of these oils to provide solutions that work for our customers! The skin is the body’s largest organ, as well as one of its main detoxifiers. With that in mind, we have put together a list of some oils below known to help with some of the most common skin afflictions reported:

Heavenly Skin for Men – Frankincense, Myrrh, Sea Buckthorn and Carrot Root CO2’s, plus Helichrysum and Rosemary c.t. verbenone essential oils, based in Argan, Tamanu, Rosehip and virgin Coconut oils.

Smooth Skin – Helichrysum, Sea Buckthorn, Rosemary Verbenone, and essential oils based in organic Rosehip Seed (studied for it’s skin smoothing effects) Tamanu (Callophyllum, a very healing oil for the skin) and Hazelnut oils can reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks. Works equally well on the face and other parts of the body. Use continually for 3-6 months for reducing appearance of ‘old’ marks. Apply to ‘new’ wounds regularly to prevent scar formation.

Soothing Skin Extra – Helichrysum Italicum, anti-inflammatory German (blue) Chamomile and soothing aromatic Wildcrafted Lavender essential oils in a base of healing, moisturizing organic Kukui and Tamanu Oils. The potent essential oils in this blend are known for their anti-inflammatory and cell regenerating properties – the base oils for their ability to provide deep moisturizing and healing for all skin types. A pleasure to use with a lovely feel and aroma.

TheraSkin+ – Callophyllum (regarded as an important skin healing agent in its own right) and the powerful anti-viral actions of true wildcrafted Ravensara aromatica, Melissa and Geranium essential oils. Our clients have reported excellent success in treating painful lesions with this soft, soothing, healing blend.

DIY Blends
When blending oils, it’s important to keep in mind that dilution ratios are extremely important, and some oils must be used more sparingly than others. Please use our Blend Calculator to help guide you further.

The information below is to give you a general guideline for what works best for certain skin types and ailments. Please remember that each of our beautiful bodies are different and we must be gentle with everything we put on our skin. Being mindful helps to ensure a safe application and allows you to learn what works best for you.

Oily Skin
You might think that treating oily skin with an oil would be counterproductive, right? Think again! Most of the time our faces overproduce oil because they aren’t properly balanced in terms of moisture. However, it is important to distinguish the heavier and less helpful oils from the ones useful for treating oily and acne-prone skin.

Some of the best carrier oils for oily skin on our current clearance sale are Sunflower oil and Grapeseed oil. The magic behind these oils lies in their linoleic acid content, which helps reverse overactive sebum production while also helping the skin retain its natural balance of moisture. Linoleic acid is also anti-inflammatory, which will drastically help the appearance of aggravated, inflamed acne.

Our Sunflower oil is cold pressed which helps retain more of the vital linoleic acid at roughly 73.5%. It also rates a zero on the comedogenic scale, meaning that it’s absolutely non-comedogenic.

Another great oil you may want to consider is our Grapeseed oil, which also boasts a plethora of benefits for oily or acne-prone skin. Falling closely behind in linoleic acid content from Sunflower oil, Grapeseed oil also has a mild astringent effect which will lead to the appearance of smaller, tighter pores. Both these carrier oils are super light and will easily absorb into your skin without leaving behind any heavy residue.

Once you’ve selected your carrier oil, it is now time to decide what oils you’d like to add to it. The following is a list of oils on our current 30% clearance sale (while supplies last) that work wonders for oily and acne-prone skin:

Dry Skin
If you suffer from dry skin, whether it be seasonally or all year round, essential oils have a myriad of benefits for those suffering from the symptoms of dry skin and can offer relief. While using oil for dry skin it is important to keep in mind which oils are beneficial for the condition. It is important while treating it not to over hydrate, clog pores, or put too heavy of an oil on your skin.

We have several oils on our clearance sale that work great as carrier oils, or simply just to use by themselves for a gentler effect. Oils currently on our 30% clearance sale (while supplies last) that we recommend for dry skin are our Apricot oil, Avocado oil, and Sesame oil. While the other carrier oils we discussed for oily skin have high values of linoleic acid, these carrier oils have high values of oleic acid. The difference is that oleic acid is heavier and absorbs slower, which is great for dry skin and not so great for oily skin. The oleic acid content will help dry skin retain moisture longer resulting in resilient, supple skin.

With this in mind, you can sensibly choose which essential oils to add into your new custom blend. Some oils on our 30% clearance sale that would greatly benefit dry skin are:

We encourage you to read all the wonderful benefits of these oils on our website, where you will find extensive information as to why these oils will work for you.
