Product Description

About The Plant

Sweet Orange is a smaller tree than the bitter orange tree, less hardy and with few or no spines. The fruits are also smaller with a sweet pulp and non-bitter membrane. The orange tree is believed to be a native of the region between the Himalayas and south-western China. It wasn't until the early 16th century that the Portuguese explorers introduced the fruit to Europe. Introduced to the Americas by Columbus, it was primarily grown in the West Indies and Florida. Today the essential oil primarily comes from Israel, Brazil, North America and Australia.

About The Oil

Sweet Orange Essential Oil is the oil produced from the rind of the fruit of the Citrus sinensis tree. Other 'orange' essential oils are from the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium): Petitgrain oil being produced from the leaves, Neroli oil from the blossoms, and Bergamot being pressed from the peels. Sweet Orange essential oil is citrusy and brightly fragrant, lending itself to uplifting the emotions and the mind. Rather than stimulating, the overall effect is calming, and can act as an antidepressant. It is considered warming, cheering, soothing, and may bring balance to the nervous system and emotions. In fact, blending the orange oils together is recommended for aromatic support in relieving tension and anxiety.
