Product Description

About The Plant

The root of this tropical perennial plant is tuberous, much like Ginger, with long, white, fleshy fibers, and jointed appendages.

About The Oil

Plai oil has a wonderful, uplifting peppery-green eucalyptus aroma, and is highly regarded for its therapeutic properties in massage. We've found this wildcrafted variety to be especially bright and fresh; a very fine distillation to be sure!

Although Plai is from the same family as Ginger, it's actions are considered more potent. Plai also has very high levels of terpinine-4-ol (generally between 25-45 %), the constituent in Tea Tree considered to give the oil most of its antimicrobial properties. A potent combination of oils with a high concentration of; this constituent is: Plai with Tea Tree and Sweet Marjoram.

For muscle, tendon and joint discomfort or swelling dilute to 10% in a carrier oil (for example, 3ml–90 drops–of essential oil per ounce of carrier oil). For this purpose Plai may also be blended with these essential oils for a synergistic effect: Helichrysum, Ginger, Marjoram, Nutmeg, and Black Pepper, or blended with soothing oils such as Lavender, Neroli, or Bergamot. A wonderful combination is Plai essential oil with Nutmeg and Lemon! It may also be used 'neat' in spot locations where discomfort or swelling is near the surface of the skin.

Plai, together with black pepper, orange and tarragon can be used topically to ease the discomfort of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Apply this blend across the abdomen and rectal tissue after each bowel movement or anytime there is any cramping or discomfort in the abdominal area.

Plai has also been noted to greatly reduce discomfort during menstrual cramping. A 10% concentration of Plai in a carrier oil, or with other essential oils, can be massaged around the abdomen and low back.
